Alex Gynes returns to Gunners for 2013 season
The new season puzzle for the Canberra Gunners continues to take shape with todayís announcement that swingman Alex Gynes has recommitted for the upcoming SEABL season.
Gynes had an injury interrupted first year in Canberra, taking part in only eighteen of the Gunners regular season fixtures producing an average of 12 points and 5 rebounds per game.
Originally from Nowra on the New South Wales south coast, he led the NSW Country Under 18 State team to a surprise national championship in 2006, single-handedly taking control of the final against WA Metro with a 26 point, 20 rebound game.
Following that year he enrolled at NCAA Division One Radford University in Virginia before transferring to Nova Southeastern University in Florida where he enjoyed a solid career, averaging 18 points and 8 rebounds per contest in his senior year and leading the team in no fewer than ten categories including points, rebounds and minutes played.
Returning from the USA, Gynes spent the 2011-12 NBL season with the Sydney Kings before signing with the Gunners. Already residing in Canberra, he will be part of preseason training pre and post Christmas.
